Filming has started

I have begun filming part IV of my Marder III build, painting and weathering.

I gave the parts a gentle wash in warm soapy water then used my airbrush to blow the excess water away. I then stuck most of the smaller pieces to tape on a spinning table ready for priming.

I have not had a problem before using Tamiya's primer in a can but this time I wanted to have full control over how thick the primer would go on as I have a huge amount of fine detail on the model.

I bought a few different airbrush type primers and found that Mission Models worked best for me.

I sprayed it on at 30 psi with a .03 nozzle un-thinned and it came out really nice.

I want to give the model an oxide red coating before the base coat, and I wanted a lot of variation in the colour so I started giving the model a pre shade before I apply to the oxide red. Using Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black and thinning it by about half. I started shading bolts, lines and recessed areas, this is quite a difficult step as you need a steady hand, and try not to over do it.

So now that is done, it's all ready for the oxide red, more to come soon!.
